FBI
raid Sons of the Desert
FBI
agents conducted a series of coordinated raids across 15 states
yesterday, arresting over 400 suspected terrorist agitators.
The raids on the Wyoming national HQ of the Sons of the Desert
and 14 branch lodges followed months of dangerous undercover
intelligence work and surveillance.
Speaking
at a press conference, Bureau regional head, John "Buzz"
Lightyear explained that working on a series of tip-offs they
had infiltrated the secretive sect and felt that the weight
of evidence had reached the point where preemptive action was
necessary. 'We've had members of our team under deep deep cover
for over 18 months and the evidence is all there. These guys
form secretive lodges, wear fez hats and are clearly aligned
with Middle East extremists.'
The Sons of the Desert are suspected of targeting senior citizens
in the Midwest and using a combination of companionship, frat-house
antics and old movie reels to indoctrinate the seemingly patriotic
and innocent.
Lightyear,
refused to comment on speculation that the raid on the Son's
of the Desert was timed to thwart a major escalation in terrorist
activity. However, sources close to the intelligence community
have said that sect's annual convention, planned for the Ramada
Hotel, Reno in early July, had the Pentagon Nervous.
Two
strips clubs in Las Vegas and another in San Diego were also
searched Wednesday, the FBI refused to be drawn on whether these
raids were linked.
